Music I Like: Don't Sleep in the Subway - Petula Clark

I liked just about all of Petula Clark's songs, which got a lot of airplay in the early Sixties. This is probably my favorite of them.

I liked her album too. My favorite was Down Town, but this one was also good.

At 80 she has just released two new studio albums in English and in French.

Both are amazing by any standards but from a woman in her 70th year in show business, they are quite outstanding.

Her voice is deeper and less powerful, but perhaps more sexy for that, and she still has soul in abundance. Her cover of Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy' is awesome as is her incredible 'Sous ma chemise il y a mon coeur'.

She has also recorded a completely new version of Downtown which is worth a listen.

But the most amazing song of all her "Cut Copy Me" (in different versions on both albums). You can hear most of the songs on Youtube.
